Dr Taguchi and son Shin, the founder of Robust Design
Dr Taguchi was at the forefront in helping us to understand variation and its impact on quality.
His methods for Robust Design were revolutionary when first applied over 50 years ago, but are
still very relevant today and laid the foundations for the Six Sigma Revolution.
Genrich Altshuller- the inventor of TRIZ
TRIZ is the most important development in the field of innovation and invention.
Altshuller recognised that the development of any technical system is not random,
but follows predictable lines of evolution. By understanding and following these
lines consciously we can all invent. We are only just beginning to recognise the power of TRIZ...
Dr W Edwards Deming
Dr Deming was perhaps the father of Continuous Improvement and was responsible for
demonstrating the power of simple statistical tools in quality improvement. Recognised
as having had a major impact on Japanese manufacturing and their quality revolution, he
was only just becoming widely known in the West at the time of his death in 1993.
